Aaron was diagnosed with fibrolamellar hepatocellular carcinoma with pulmonary metastasis (a rare form of liver cancer) in February 2010 and from this moment to his passing on October 29th Aaron showed unbelievable courage and strength.
In 2011 Aaron’s dream of a goalkeeping academy became reality when the Aaron West Goalkeeping Academy was established which provides specialist goalkeeping coaching. Please visit the Aaron West Facebook page for more information here.
Tributes to Aaron
Darrell Hoar (KCA United Coach
As a goalkeeper he was awesome, technically superb. We all had such tremendous faith in his ability when he was in goal, he was a born leader, a great communicator. He was a great character famed for his brightly coloured boots. A good influence in the squad, he always commanded the respect of his peers.
Aaron played for us over the years in a number of tournaments, league and cup matches. Gaining a well respected reputation amongst the other clubs and coaches of the Chiltern Church Junior League. He also gained experience in county football and had trials set up with a professional club. A mark of his growing capabilities and experience as a player. Aaron was also one of a select number of players out of our Under 16s squad (KCA United 09-10) to have been earmarked by the coach of our senior team as capable of stepping up to adult football.
He will so greatly be missed by all within our club
George Hunt (KCA United)
I got to know Aaron in year 9 and we soon became really good friends. I spent a lot of time with Aaron in and out of school and there was never a dull moment, we constantly had each other in stitches and we were always having fun. I knew that he would always be there for me and I would always be there for him.
On the football pitch he must have been one of the most technically gifted goalkeepers I know, he was always in control and shouting encouragement. It was a real honour to play with and be part of a team with someone who always gave their all.
It is for these reasons that he has become the greatest influence on how I want to live my life.

Aaron West, amazing keeper, amazing mate.
I don’t know where to start!!
I remember the first time I met you with Callum and we began to have many great laughs. Playing with you for Kings was great, you would always be up for it every time giving it 110%. Mate playing football with you and being with you was always great.
Aaron, it was a privilege knowing you and I’m so glad that I was able to spend many good times with you.
